We renovate 

In April, we are refurbishing the rooms on the 1st floor. The rooms on the ground floor are available, but noise from the works must be expected between 07.15 and 15.30.

Welcome

Rjukan Gjestegård is located at Rjukan in Telemark. You will find us in the center of the World Heritage town.

Rjukan Gjestegård is the perfekt stay while exploring all the attratctions at our destination.

Rjukan Gjestegård is owned and operated by Arena kompetanse AS, which is a work and inclusion company, and offers work and work training for people with challenges in getting out into ordinary work.

Our rooms

Rjukan Gjestegård has 20 rooms and one apartment, 46 beds in total. All rooms are with two beds, and four with own bathroom. 

Rooms without bathroom and toilet use shared showers and toilets in the corridor. All rooms are equipped with a sink and a seating area.

The apartment has two bedrooms, beds for 6 persons and a private terrace.

Bed linen and towels are included for all rooms, but for the apartment you must arrange them yourself .

Food

Breakfast package are included in the rooms with hotel standard. For other rooms you can order breakfast package.

You can eat purchased or brought food in the dining room in the basement or in the reception area at the ground floor. There is no opportunity to cook you own food in our kitchen, and it is not permitted to cook in the rooms. Food can be stored in a commun fridge. By summer, there will be refrigerators in the rooms.

We are close to several restaurants in the center of Rjukan.

Prices: 1 person: NOK 1.010,-, 2 persons: NOK 1.410,- per night.

Two-bed room without bathroom. Sink at the room. Breakfast package can be ordered.

Prices: 1 person: NOK 540,-, 2 persons: NOK 810,- per night. Breakfast package: NOK 125,- per person.

Newly renovated apartment for 6 persons. Two bedrooms, separate living room, kitchen and bathroom. Spacious hallway. Separate entrance and private terrace. Bed linen and towels are provided, but you must arrange them yourself.

Price: NOK 2.500,- per night.

You can reach us:

Monday-Friday: 8 AM – 9 PM.

Saturday-Sunday: 8 AM – 6 PM.

The reception is open: Monday-Friday: 8 AM to 9 PM (6PM in Easter). Saturday-Sunday: 8 AM to 6 PM.

Seating areas at the reception area.

Most of the rooms share toilets and shower. Available on each floor.

Free parking for our guests. EV charging stations 200 meters from Rjukan Gjestegård.

Rjukan Gjestegård is centrally located with a short distance to shops, restaurants and the bus station.

From Rjukan Gjestegård you can walk around in the town and see historic buildings such as Såheim power station. Follow the hikes «Company Town» or «Town centre walk» along the Månastien and Love Trail. Photo: Ian Brodie.

The Gaustabanen tramway is the «secret» railway inside Gaustatoppen. In addition to transporting you to 1800 meters above sea level in a comfortable way, you can get to know the exciting story about Gaustabanen, which was completed by NATO in 1959. Photo: Gaustabanen.

Some say that Gaustatoppen at 1883 meters above sea level is the most beautiful mountain in Norway. The hiking trail from Stavsro to Gaustatoppen tourist cabin is one of the most visited trails in the country and is suitable for almost everyone. Photo: Gaustabanen.

Krossobanen is the oldest cable car in Northern Europe. It is the gateway to Hardangervidda and brings you up the mountain in less than 5 minutes. Photo: Ian Brodie.

Gvepseborg, Krossobanen’s upper station, is the starting point for hiking and cycling trips at Hardangervidda. From here you have great views to Gaustatoppen and to the town of Rjukan. The Norwegian Industrial Workers Museum at Vemork is located in a beautiful building – the world’s largest power plant in 1911. Here you can visit several exhibitions related to the industrial worker and not least the famos story of «Heroes of Telemark». Photo: Norwegian Industrial Workers Museum.

At the award-winning interactive exhibition Hardangervidda National Park Centre, you can learn about the  nature and the wild reindeer that habits on Hardangervidda.
